With two laps to go Zarco moved up to second and Bagnaia cut his way into third, and together they led the hunt into Miller Corner, where the battle for the lead came to a head.
The Frenchman dived down the inside of his teammate, putting him out of his misery, but then Bagnaia cut his way down the inside of both and attempt to take victory for himself.
But by then Zarco was already sitting up and charting course for Siberia, eking what life was left from his rear rubber to put one hand on the trophy.
Bagnaia gave chase, but in equal Ducati machinery he was out of tools to pressure the leader into an error.
Zarco needed only a clean exit from the last corner and charge towards the line to take his long-awaited maiden triumph.frytr

“Then I tried to attack when we had this group. It was almost a surprise to see Martin totally dropping down. Then I thought something was possible.
